The Seafarers display suite has re-opened for private appointments. 25km travel limit has now been removed; metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria are now in line on statewide restrictions. COVID-safe practices are in place to help safeguard the health of display suite visitors.
Heritage listed Goods Shed 5 and Melbourne’s first electric crane now refurbished to its former glory.
Seafarers will pay homage to the site’s rich, unique history and industrial past and will celebrate the people and industries that shaped Melbourne in a remarkable story of urban regeneration.
Melbourne’s last remaining original electric crane has been restored to its former glory and will act as a beacon for future residences, visitors and locals alike, finding a new home at the east end of the historic Goods Shed No.5.
The project promises to preserve the only intact remnants from the days before containerisation… when the river was the city’s principal port. Centred on an inspired reimagining of the heritage-protected Goods Shed, under the stewardship of Riverlee, these historic features will be preserved, ensuring their story can be shared and celebrated for generations to come.
