Melbourne's skyline welcomes a new icon

Melbourne’s skyline welcomes a new icon redefining architectural excellence: Seafarers, home to Australia’s first 1 Hotel & Homes. This masterpiece is already turning heads with its recently completed façade, marking a pivotal construction milestone.

Seafarers is the result of an exclusive collaboration between two visionaries: Riverlee Founder and Chairman, Clement Lee OAM and renowned architect Nonda Katsalidis AM of FK. Their partnership has created a legacy project set to shape Melbourne’s architectural landscape for generations.

With over 4,000 intricate panels assembled like a giant jigsaw puzzle, the FK-designed façade has been hailed as “the most complex facade this city has seen since Federation Square,” perfectly fusing heritage and innovation.

The design draws inspiration from its unique riverfront setting, seamlessly blending the industrial heritage of Goods Shed No.5 with the fluidity of the Yarra River, traditionally known as Birrarung. The lower levels echo the angular side panels of the heritage-listed Goods Shed, while the upper levels reflect the ever-changing form of the river, creating a harmonious dialogue between past and future.

But the facade is more than just an architectural statement; it significantly enhances the living experience within. The ripple-like design of the upper levels, home to the luxurious hotel-branded residences, creates unique floorplans.

Unlike typical flat facades that can limit perspectives, Seafarers’ faceted exterior allows for expanded view lines in each residence. This design ensures that every residence benefits from expansive, uninterrupted vistas, whether it’s the bustling city skyline, the serene bay, the winding river, or the lush adjacent parkland. The result is a home that feels open, connected to its surroundings, and truly one-of-a-kind.

With the facade now complete, Seafarers is advancing to its next construction phase, with interior fit-out works well underway. The residential interiors, crafted by the renowned interior design studio Carr, reflect a deep understanding of luxury living and an uncompromising commitment to quality. Carr’s design approach harmonises with the building’s exterior, creating a seamless transition from the striking facade to the refined living spaces within.

Over 90% of residences have already been sold, leaving only a limited number of opportunities to be part of this landmark development. These remaining residences, located on levels 9-18, offer an unparalleled lifestyle experience with unlimited access to premium amenities and services and the prestige of living in Australia’s first 1 Hotel & Homes.
